Athletes on the rise: Who to watch in 2018

As the year comes to a close, we’re looking ahead to 2018 to predict the latest CrossFit trends. We’re also watching CrossFit’s up-and-coming athletes and can’t wait to see who rises to the top of the podium at the 2018 CrossFit Games!

In terms of physical ability, mental toughness and untapped potential, the following five CrossFit athletes have already set themselves apart. We can’t wait to see what 2018 holds for them!

1. Lauren Fisher

As a four-time CrossFit Games veteran and California Regional champion, 23-year-old Lauren Fisher has already established herself as an elite athlete. She’s had huge finishes in both regional and national competitions — including the CrossFit Games — and 2018 is slated to be her biggest year yet! To learn more, follow Fisher on Instagram!  

2. Angelo DiCicco

Angelo DiCicco is one of CrossFit’s leading teen sensations. After winning the CrossFit Games Teenage Boy Division in 2015 and placing third in 2016, this freshly-minted 18 year old is slated to dominate the CrossFit Games Men’s Division.

3. Jamie Greene

Jamie Green skyrocketed to fame after winning the 2016 CrossFit open. A former gymnast and rugby player hailing from New Zealand, Greene is one of the most exciting female CrossFit athletes to watch. Follow Greene’s progress through 2018 on her Instagram.

4. Samuel Kwant

Even though he’s only 21 years old, Samuel Kwant is a mainstay in the world of CrossFit. Not only was he the youngest man to compete in the 2016 CrossFit Games. He also has four trips to Regionals under his belt and can clean and jerk a whopping 345 pounds.

5. Kara Webb

Kara Webb is taking the CrossFit world by storm. She won the title of Second Fittest Woman on Earth in 2017, placed first in the 2016 Pacific Regional and competed in the CrossFit Games six times. We can’t wait to see how she performs in 2018. Follow Webb on Instagram to learn more!
