Hello Tomorrow

From all of us at Wodify, I hope this message finds you happy and healthy. It’s hard to believe we are nearing the end of 2016. We’ve had a big year and I’m excited to share some of our most recent improvements and enhancements to the product. We are deeply committed to providing leading-edge CrossFit technology, and we can’t do it without you. I’d like to discuss some of our recent accomplishments and the direction we are heading in 2017.

Performance & Reliability

We’ve completed a major infrastructure change by moving from Rackspace to AWS, setting the stage for delivering more speed and reliabilityOur new Admin interface was released on December 3rd, 2016. We hope you love it. This was not solely a branding exercise; our snappy new look also improves readability, utility, and performance.


In 2017, we will establish global data centers allowing us to perform feature updates during convenient maintenance windows in your timezone. Additionally, we’re moving several modules such as social, reporting, and performance tracking to separate, real-time databases. These process-intensive modules can put the business transaction processing (e.g. converting a lead, selling a membership, etc.) at risk. By isolating these modules we can improve performance and minimize risk to your business. 

Customer Advocacy

For a while now you’ve been asking us for more customer touch points. You spoke, and we listened. We’re proud to announce that Lindsey Johnson, General Manager at Invictus Fitness and former Director of Operations at Reebok CrossFit One, will be joining Wodify as Director of Customer Advocacy in January. Lindsey will become a critical part of our product design team, bringing with her ten years of knowledge and insight from running two of the most well-known CrossFit gyms in the world. She will share her insight and best practices with owners and admins to get the most out of our product. We believe our job is not only to provide great software but also to be a trusted advisor to our customers helping them grow, putting more money in their pocket, and making sure Wodify boxes are best in class.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been developing our Q1 roadmap for 2017. In the very near future, this roadmap will be publicly available at roadmap.wodify.com. In the meantime, I’d like to give you some insight into the exciting features in our pipeline. 

Our Personal Services module will enable you to sell one-on-one appointments such as training, nutritional coaching, and messages, eliminating the most time-consuming aspects of appointment-based services. Your coaches will no longer play “texting tag” with athletes to schedule an appointment. We know this module will help you grow your revenue and membership, and I look forward to hearing your feedback. Personal Services will be delivered as follows:

Version 1.0 (December 17th)  will include scheduling, membership tracking, and payment processing with the goal of driving top line revenue while streamlining operations.Version 2.0 (December 31st) will include reporting, integration with the Online Sales Portal, and Google Calendar sync for your service providers. These improvements will allow you to better calculate payroll, sell packages online, and manage availability changes with your service providers.  Version 3.0 (Q2) will fully integrate personal services with our payroll module (to be overhauled in Q1). Our goal is to eliminate the complexity and time-consuming nature of calculating payroll for personal services.  Version 4.0 (Q3) will integrate our performance tracking module.  Our vision is to enable you to implement the concept of a 12-week program to keep individual or small group clients coming back for more.

I’m excited to introduce Wodify Payments (powered by Stripe). We will become our own payment processor providing Wodify customers with a straightforward and transparent alternative. This means we will have full control of the customer experience: from onboarding, transaction processing, managing refunds and disputes, to daily deposits to your account. Our customer success team will be well-equipped to handle all of your support needs including those related to payment processing.

Our new segmentation feature will enable you to slice and dice your athlete and lead lists to create targeted marketing communications through email and text messaging. Based on the feedback we’ve received, we know this will be helpful in nurturing relationships with your members.

Our global user model was launched in November, enabling athletes to log into a single Wodify account and access their performance data no matter which box they visit. This industry best-practice eliminates the need for multiple usernames and passwords. You’ll spend less time handling account management issues such as retrieving lost passwords and requesting performance data transfers.

I know that asking parents to create an email for their children can be awkward at best. As a workaround, you can create email aliases on the fly.  On February 25th, we’ll launch a few family features including adding children to a family without an email address.   

Performance tracking is headed to a whole new level. CrossFit continues to evolve and we’re constantly thinking about how technology could enhance a workout or help a gym owner. We have a track record of turning the market on its head, and lately, we’ve been obsessed with developing ways to collect more (and better) performance data. As a result, we are developing a new product that will provide real-time heart rate data to athletes and coaches. Be on the lookout for more details in the next few months.

We are actively evaluating third party reporting and dashboarding platforms. In Q1, you can expect beautiful and highly interactive reports that will deliver actionable insight into your business (not just data). We have more data on CrossFitters than anyone on the planet. We’re seeking a data scientist to augment our reporting capabilities, giving you the ability to predict the trends and behaviors of your athletes.
