The Wissahickon Boys and Girls Club was founded in 1885, and was the very first in the organization’s history to serve an African-American community. It was also the destination for Wodify’s Philadelphia-based philanthropy event, our first since the big move to the city a few weeks earlier.
“Giving back to our community is always fulfilling, but there’s nothing better than seeing smiling kids and hearing them say, "Can you come back? You were so much fun!""
- Brian Thorburn, Chief Financial Officer
We spent the morning helping the Club inside and out. Some of us cleaned and reorganized their classrooms, while others made their playground safer by breaking down and removing damaged equipment. Another group replaced their broken A/C unit with a brand new one so their summers will be a bit more comfortable. And a bunch of us got a great workout by trying to keep up with the kids in games of basketball, soccer, and dodgeball.
“It was a great experience volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club in Philadelphia! Organizing their literacy center was quite a challenge, but it feels good to know that the children now have a clean, welcoming space to read and learn!”
- Danielle Horneff, Onboarding Specialist
It only takes a small team of dedicated people to have a positive impact. That’s why Wodify makes a commitment to volunteer 1% of our time, provide 1% of our services, and donate 1% of our profits to local charities and programs. If you know of a project, cause, or charity that deserves our attention, please let us know!
