One in four households in Philadelphia have an annual income below $20,000 and cannot afford to pay for the roof over their heads without sacrificing other essentials. Habitat for Humanity helps people rebuild their homes by building hope. Right now, Habitat has 5 houses under construction and is working with 604 families in the city of Philadelphia.
"Right now, Habitat has 5 houses under construction and is working with 604 families in the city of Philadelphia."
Last April, it was our time to help Habitat for Humanity Restore.
The Restore is Habitat’s discount home improvement store. They sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, building supplies, home goods and much more. More than 2000 tons were saved from landfills and those donations, with the right amount of care and cleaning, worked perfectly to get resources to help improve these damaged houses, together with their owners.
Wodify applied for a volunteer shift. In one morning, our team of developers, sales force, creatives and engineers changed roles and helped organize the inventory, provided customer service, picked up and cleaned donations.
“We managed to clean and sell a full equipped kitchen in a couple of hours, picked up and organized two trucks with donations at the warehouse, sold 1 ton of yard stones to build a new patio and even managed to clean and reorganize ReStore’s showroom to make it more appealing to their beloved customers.”
It was a hard working morning, but the results were priceless: we managed to clean and sell a full equipped kitchen in a couple of hours, picked up and organized two trucks with donations at the warehouse, sold 1 ton of yard stones to build a new patio and even managed to clean and reorganize ReStore’s showroom to make it more appealing to their beloved customers.
Who knew that we could so so much with only 1%?
