We’re continuing our “Inside the Box” mini-series with Tommy Alfinito, owner and head trainer at CrossFit Mount Laurel. Tommy has grown his box to over 300 members in under 4 years and we think he has great tips that all box owners can benefit from. He also started CFMTL Blueprint to offer programming, tips, and other advice to box owners and athletes. Be sure to check it out!
This week we’re focusing on what box owners can do to attract new members. It’s the age old question — how do I get new people through my doors who will fit into our culture and love this gym as much as I do? It’s hard to attract new people and many box owners wonder if Groupon or Living Social deals will bring in athletes who will become life-long members of their gym family.
In fact, we are testing this ourselves by offering a Groupon at Wodify Strength and Conditioning. Ours is still running so we can’t make any conclusions yet, but we wanted to hear from someone who has been through the experience before. Tommy has offered two Groupon deals and has over 300 members, so we wanted to tap him for his advice on how he gets new members through the doors. Check out his tips below. What are your experiences with sites like Groupon or Living Social? Would you recommend them to other box owners?
