Asking a bunch of CrossFitters to do cardio? We’ll only do it for a good cause — and the “Step Up for the Special Olympics” event fit the bill perfectly.
The Wodify team woke up bright and early on Sunday, Nov. 17 to raise money for a good cause. Our second year participating, this fundraiser challenges participants to climb a Philadelphia office building’s 53 flights of stairs to “step up” and raise money for athletes in the Special Olympics. For an additional challenge, some of us chose to complete an individual or team-based CrossFit WOD before climbing the stairs.
What was the WOD, you ask? Individuals completed 3 rounds of 21 KB swings, 15 box jumps, and 9 burpees. After that, it was on to climb the stairs. For the teams, they completed 3 rounds of an 18 calorie row, 15 KB swings, 12 box jumps, and 9 burpees, then started on the stairs.
A special congratulations to our newest Customer Support Manager, Eric Malehorn, whose team finished second! And safe to say, our legs are still a bit sore today.
This event was selected as part of Wodify’s Integrated Philanthropy Program, where we give one percent of our time, one percent of our resources, and one percent of our profit to organizations that are impacting the world. And of course, we ended the day with a spread of delicious mexican food and beer at a local restaurant. Stepping up for a worthy organization was a wonderful way to spend the weekend!
