On June 9th Ameet, Brian and I woke up bright and early to travel to the Starfinder Foundation. Why was I up so early on a Saturday morning, I found myself rolling over to my alarm thinking? This thought quickly passing as I remembered we would be supporting a great cause and be able to watch premier athletes conquer the “Hope” WOD. The Wodify team and I volunteered our software and time to help score and support the CrossFit for Hope event spearheaded by CrossFit 215’s, Micah MacBeth.Local Pennsylvania and New Jersey CrossFit Affiliates teamed up to put on a CrossFit for Hope event hosted at the Starfinder Organization on Main Street in Manayunk. When we arrived , the place looked awesome! Micah and his volunteers spent the night assembling and prepping the location for the event. Picture a huge turf soccer field with rigs assembled in the center and surrounded by 20 lanes of barbells. Sweet right?
CrossFit for Hope, sponsored by CrossFit Headquarters, has helped to raise over 1.4mm for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to date. There was a huge turnout and the energy in the room was contagious. One thing I love about CrossFit is the community that comes with it. Athletes were cheering each other on catching up with friends from boxes in the area and warming up for their upcoming heats. Everyone was amped up for a tough workout in support of a great cause. Between heats, athletes huddled around the leaderboard to see how they stacked up against the other participants. The event was extremely well done and a huge success. We were happy to be a part of such a great cause.
